Trends come and go, so how do you know what artwork to select for your home?
If you were raised in the 90s like me, you will remember a good night out could not be had unless your eyeshadow colour matched your outfit, your nail colour and your shoes.
Thankfully style and design has moved on from there, but when you are investing in artwork, it is still a big decision to ensure that each piece fits well in your space.
Where to begin?
If you are looking to add artwork to finish off a space you already love, the most important thing to consider is if you actually like the piece? Hanging artwork simply to blend in with the colour scheme is a big no no for me. The art should be meaningful, tell a story and add something to your space.
I know nothing about colour...
Colour can be overwhelming , but it really does not have to be. If you have already invested in an interior designer, they are the best people to support you in finding artists whose work speaks to you, but also fits well with what they have already created.
If you have created a beautiful space yourself, you will probably have multiple Pinterest boards and interiors Instagram accounts saved for inspiration. These can be great signposts for artists that meet your needs. Then comes the fun bit. Contact the artist.
How can speaking to the artist help me?
As artists, we love nothing more than talking colour and pattern. When you find an artist whose style your feel connected to, your best option is to reach out and discuss your needs. You never know what works we have tucked away or if your idea is a piece we have been waiting to create. Whether you choose a completed piece or commission us to create something truly unique for you, we really do just want you to have art that takes your space from house to home.
